July Inspiration
Cooling off in the River North Tyne, Northumberland
If you enjoy camping, I can recommend Demesne Farm Campsite in Bellingham, gateway to the Northumberland National Park. It is an excellent base for exploring this corner of the county. Also check out Fountain Cottage Café and the magical walk up to Hareshaw Linn Waterfall.
Rievaulx Wild Swimming is a new wild swimming pond that has just opened near Rievaulx. Currently open Wednesdays, 10am-12pm but keep an eye out for other pop-up dates.
I was invited to a screening of Crayfish, End of Days, a fun, short faux documentary, by local filmmaker Finn Varney. It tells of the plight of our native white-clawed crayfish, questioning their survival against the odds.
If you are in Bristol, do check out the gorgeous Bristol Lido, a cool, urban oasis in the heart of town with a sauna, steam room and hot tub.
I enjoyed watching Mind over Water, a short, inspiring film from Scottish clothing company, Findra, about how wild swimming helps boost resilience and mindfulness and a way to reconnect with yourself.
I recently finished reading The Names by Florence Knapp. A ‘sliding doors’ story of three names and three different lives, it begs the question, how much does our name define us?
