Bright yellow flowers of gorse - apparently they are edible

Things that have caught my eye this month…

Jules and Greg are back!! I was so excited to see the return of this crazy wild swimming duo. I am really trying hard not to binge watch the whole series in one go. This time they are swimming their way around southern Scotland.

Wildish is a lovely coffee shop in Pateley Bridge, also selling beautiful handmade bags. Oscar and Nell also run the Wildish Club and publish a seasonal zine packed with thoughtful essays, practical skills and ideas for slowing down. The next one is out in April.

It was great news to hear that 13 more swim spots are in line for Bathing Water Status including Richmond Foss in North Yorkshire, which features in Wild Swimming Walks Yorkshire, and Amble Little Shore in Northumberland.

Not so good news was Channel 4’s Dirty Business, a shocking real life drama portraying a decade-long investigation by two neighbours in an Oxfordshire village into sewage contaminated water by water companies.

My son has been volunteering with Surfers Against Sewage for his Duke of Edinburgh award so we have been out cleaning up beaches, streets and riversides. If you would like to get involved in the Million Mile Clean, you can register here.

If you are looking for restaurant recommendations in Leeds, I enjoyed a delicious birthday lunch at La Piola in Leeds, an authentic Italian café bistro overlooking a Georgian square.

Saunas and swims have got me through this grey and wet winter so it was great to try a new venue with swim buddies. Woodland Lakes Wild Swim & Sauna is a tranquil swimming pond near Thirsk with a wooden sauna pod.

I also enjoyed a sauna with Zen Den Wellbeing at Chaloner Pond. Natalie is here on the last Saturday of the month. She also pops up at Kirby Lonsdale with more sauna locations in the planning.
